A crack team of Nigerian Police and the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Task Force yesterday arrested nine culprits for attacking staff of BIRS on duty.
The culprits who were arrested on the orders of the Governor, had inflicted injuries on some members of the task force and also caused the accident of a trailer fully loaded with orange.
The arrested suspects are responsible for the injury of two BIRS taskforce members and one police man. They also shattered the windscreen of one of the operational vehicles belonging to the taskforce.
They were arrested at Mbashimbe, Mbaagure, Ipav Gboko Local Government Area, where they operated an illegal check point and constantly harassing commuters and extorting them.
The nine suspects which included one female, Terzungwe Anyam, and eight males namely, Shachia Anyam, Joseph Aondona, Ngutor Ngugbam, Tsumba Ternenge, Terkula Atim, Tyonongu David, Bem Anyam and Solomon Abur, have already been handed over to the Police
