The Kwara State Police Command has arrested and detained five suspects in connection with the alleged murder of Lanre Adebayo, a 46-year-old political science graduate from the University of Ilorin.
The suspects include the community chairman, his two wives, and two local security personnel. They were arrested by police operatives on Tuesday and transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Lanre was reportedly killed on Sunday during an argument with the local security men in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West LGA, while on his way home. According to reports, he was allegedly attacked with a machete around 10:00 pm.
Attempts to reach the State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, were unsuccessful. However, sources within the Command confirmed the arrests.
