A Kano businessman named Sunusi Yusuf has been apprehended by Kano police for conspiring with two other individuals to rob his friend, Nura Ibrahim, also a fellow business operator.
Yusuf reportedly engaged in this criminal act with prior knowledge that his friend was in possession of a substantial amount of money.
Kano State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, has confirmed the incident. Yusuf managed to rob his friend of over N2 million and inflicted injuries upon him during the process.
SP Haruna recounted that the police received a report from the victim, Nura Ibrahim, leading to the subsequent arrest of Yusuf and his accomplice.
On the 6th of October, 2023, at around 1600hrs, Nura Ibrahim of Kankiya Village in Garko LGA, Kano, reported an incident. He was ambushed and attacked on his way to Kaduna for business while walking from his residence to the main road in Garko LGA. During the attack, he was robbed of the sum of Two Million Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,900,000:00) and sustained head injuries.
Upon receiving the report, the victim was rushed to Garko Hospital, and a team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Garko Division was dispatched to the scene. An intelligence-led operation resulted in the apprehension of Sunusi Yusuf, a 25-year-old individual who was a friend of the victim and resided at the same address.
