The Benue State Police Command has apprehended six suspects in connection with various crimes, as disclosed during a press briefing held at the state headquarters in Makurdi on Tuesday.

Commissioner of Police Hassan Yabanet revealed that three of the suspects were detained for alleged arms manufacturing in Kwande and Guma Local Government Areas, while the remaining three were implicated in robbery incidents within Kwande and Makurdi LGAs.

Providing details of the arrests, Yabanet stated, “On January 11, 2025, at about 2:30 PM, the police stormed an illegal arms factory in Mbaafa. Two suspects, identified as Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as ‘AK-35,’ were arrested at the location.”

Recovered from the factory were nine fabricated pistols, an unfinished AK-47 rifle, two gas cylinders, a filing machine, four other machines, and additional tools used for fabricating firearms. The police also confiscated six Dane guns and three long pipes reportedly used in gun production.

In a related operation, three robbery suspects were arrested for crimes committed across Kwande and Makurdi.

This development underscores the Benue State Police Command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
