The Taraba State Police Command has announced the apprehension of a suspected armed robbery gang accused of causing fear in certain parts of the state.
In a statement provided to the media, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, revealed that the suspects were captured by operatives from Kofai Police Station, affiliated with Sunkani Division in Ardo-Kola Local Government Council.
The arrested individuals were identified as Joseph Desmind, Swaibu Sambu, Danladi Ibrahim, and Douglas John. Desmond and John are natives of neighboring Adamawa, while Sambu and Ibrahim are from Taraba State.
According to the statement, the suspects have been involved in terrorizing and robbing students and communities around Taraba State University in Jalingo.
“The suspects, upon apprehension, have confessed to the crimes, and they are providing valuable information to the police that will assist in apprehending their accomplices who are currently on the run,” Usman stated.
The command also refuted rumors circulating that over a hundred individuals were kidnapped along Zing Road on Saturday night, clarifying that only two persons were abducted.
