The Lagos State Police Command apprehended a 23-year-old suspected cultist on Sunday, seizing a firearm from him. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Spokesman, verified the arrest and noted that the suspect’s associates were evading capture.
The suspect and his alleged cult companions reportedly targeted a Lagos residential estate to retaliate against a rival cult group’s earlier assault on their members. However, vigilant estate residents managed to capture the suspect with his firearm, while the others managed to escape.
Hundeyin commended the estate residents for refraining from taking the law into their own hands and promptly turning the suspect over to the police. He assured that the suspect would face charges at the conclusion of the investigation.
