The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of cattle rustling.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests.
He detailed that on August 13, 2024, at around 8:05 PM, police received a distress call reporting that a group of three individuals in a green Golf 3 Wagon, with registration number BWR 198 AM, had stolen two cows from Gubusun village in Kirika Samma LGA.
“Upon receiving the report, a team of Police Officers from Kirika Samma Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly mounted a stop and searched along Kirika Samma-Kano road”
“The team successfully intercepted the vehicle alongside the said cows and the following occupants; (1) Yura Alhaji Gwanto ‘m’ age 50yrs of Gubusun, (2) Mohammed Saje ‘m’ age 35yrs of Zagari Fulani settlement, (3) Haladu Yusuf Chakas (driver) ‘m’ age 30yrs of Marma village Kirika Samma LGA”
“The vehicle, cows and the suspects were immediately brought to the division for investigation.”
He said the suspects confessed to having stolen the cows at the said village.
The suspects were arraigned to court to face the law.
