Police clears illegal check points in Benue

The commander of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force CSP. Justine Gberindyer in a bid to make the high ways in and around Benue safe for traders and matorist today cleared all illegal check points that extort monies from traders on Gboko Aliade road.

Akume Raphael reports that ,the commander in company of his men drove along the road and chased away boys who pose as revenue agents and union members to extort money from traders , motorist illegally and removed the woods they used in blocking the road.

The commander warned those perpetuating the act to stop Henceforth or have him to contend with saying only recognized and gazetted revenue inspection points approved by Benue internal revenue service will be allowed to operate.

The operation recorded remarkable success as some of the boys were arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

CSP Gberindyer who is the commander of Operation Zenda JTF noted that the operation has become necessary owing to the numerous complaints he has received from traders and motorist plying the road.

He further said his men will Henceforth carry out periodic and routine check on roads in the state and called on the communities these illegal road blocks are sited to report such to the police or face arrest and prosecution as accomplish .
