Police clinic unavailable as DSP dies after collapsing at command eatery

A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) serving at the Zone 9 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force tragically lost his life on Thursday after collapsing while eating at an eatery within the command premises in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to The Nation, sources revealed that the officer had just returned from an investigative operation with his team and stopped for a meal before resuming duty. However, while eating, he began exhibiting unusual behavior before suddenly slumping.
His colleagues rushed him to the police clinic at the Central Police Station on Bende Road, Umuahia North Local Government Area, but upon arrival, no medical personnel were available. They then transported him to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, where he was later pronounced dead. His remains have since been deposited at the FMC morgue.
As of the time of reporting, the Zone 9 Headquarters has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
In a separate incident, a 52-year-old man, Salihu Byezhe, passed away after collapsing during Subhi (early morning) prayers in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
IDOMA VOICE on Friday morning indicated that the incident occurred on Thursday after Byezhe had partaken in Sahur, the pre-dawn meal during Ramadan. He performed his ablution and proceeded to the mosque for prayers but suddenly collapsed during the session.
