The Lagos Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of former Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal Sikiru Smith (rtd.).
Smith was kidnapped on Monday evening by hooded gunmen at a site around Blenco Supermarket in Ajah, according to an SOS by his driver Corporal Adiji.
His kidnappers were said to have opened fire to scare people away, struggled with him before whisking him away on a boat.
Aside from the retired senior officer, a couple and another man were said to have also been kidnapped on Monday at Dopemu, Agege and Admiralty Way in Lekki.
Giving details of the other abductions, Security group, Eons Intelligence, said the couple was whisked away in their vehicle while their driver was forced to enter another car believed to be stolen.
It said the wife was later released to source for N50m to pay the kidnappers for her husband’s freedom.
Confirming AVM Smith’s kidnap, Lagos police spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said: “We are aware of the incident. Concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue him unhurt, and arrest the perpetrators.”
On the kidnap of the couple and another man, Ajisebutu said he was unaware of the incidents but would find out and revert.
