Following the death of two persons in the early hours of Thursday, December 3, the Police have declared a 24-hour curfew in Talata Marfara, Bakura Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State.
The curfew became imperative following a political clash between the supporters of the All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party over a campaign venue that led to the killing of two persons.
The police has appealed to all political parties to call their supporters to order even as it suspended campaigns in the area ahead of Saturday’s State Assembly Bye-Election.
On Monday, gunmen in the early hours of the morning killed the village head and kidnapped about 8 persons, including the wife of the former chairman of the PDP.
It is uncertain if the attack is politically motivated.
