The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected of kidnappers involving in criminal activities within the state.
Commissioner of Police Shehu Umar-Nadada announced on Thursday that recent strategies by the command have notably decreased crime rates, producing encouraging results.
He noted, “Over the past week, the command has apprehended 12 suspected kidnappers and other criminals. Investigations are still ongoing, and we are working to apprehend more suspects.”
Umar-Nadada identified key areas where kidnappers are most active, including Lafia, Gandu near the Federal University of Lafia, the GRA/Angwan Maitasa area, and Shabu in Lafia North local government area.
The Commissioner stated that the recent murder of a 19-year-old student, Anas Zubairu, after a ransom of N17 million was allegedly collected, occurred in the Project Quarters area of Lafia local government area, pointing out that other areas of concern include Shinge and the 500 Housing Estate in Lafia local government area.
He disclosed that patrols had been intensified across the areas to combat criminal activities and ensure people went about their normal activities.
