The Lagos State Police Command has taken custody of Adeleye Ayomide, who is accused of murdering Idowu Christiana, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Ayomide, 23, was transferred to the Lagos police from the Nigerian Army on Thursday. This was confirmed by the police command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, via his X account.
“23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The transfer occurred today, September 5, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM. Investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin stated.
Christiana was abducted on Monday, August 19, 2024, along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N3 million, but after negotiations, they reduced their demand to N350,000. Despite receiving the reduced amount, they did not release the student.
