The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three persons suspected to be armed robbers in Adikpo area of Benue State by angry mob.

It was gathered the gunmen had allegedly attacked a filling station located around Y Junction before nemesis caught up with them.

Youths of the area mobilized themselves and overpowered the heavily armed gunmen before they could escape.
However, another version of the story claimed that the ‘suspected robbers’ were members of the All Progressive Congress APC from Mbadura council ward of Turan.
According to sources, the trio identified as Denen Agber Kur, Sega Agber Kur and Jagba Uhembe escorted sensitive materials for the APC primaries to their ward.
“Upon reaching Adikpo and waiting for the distribution exercise to commence, the trio sat at a burukujoint near the Kwande APC Secretariat to sip the local brew.
“It was at that point that robbers stormed a filling station in same location and after the robbers took off on motorbikes.
“The trio, relatively unknown faces to the angry youths of the area became suspects and were killed instantly and set ablaze,” an eyewitness claimed.
However, when DAILY POST contacted the Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu, he confirmed that the victims were actually robbers who had attacked and robbed a filing station in the area.
“Yes, we got the report this morning about three robbers that were killed around Y Junction in Adikpo. Before police men from the area could get to the scene, they have been killed and set on fire by angry community youths,” Yamu said.
When informed about the other side of the story claiming that the victims were said to be members of the APC, the PRO faulted the report, saying that, “Are they INEC officials? How do you mean by they escorted electoral materials to the area? As security men or electoral officials? I just told you what happened, they were robbers. Their bodies have being recovered at deposited in the mortuary,” he added.
