Police intercept 600 rounds of live ammunition in Katsina State

Police in Katsina State have intercepted 600 rounds of 7.62 millimeters live ammunition from a 35-year old suspected notorious bandit and arms supplier, Abubakar Haruna who concealed the consignment under the seat of his boxer motorcycle.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah who stated this while displaying the ammunition before newsmen at the Command Headquarters said, the suspect has been on the wanted list of the police and unfortunately died while on admission as a result of injuries sustained during the encounter.

Explaining the circumstances that led to the operation, Isah said on October 14 at about 6:20 pm based on credible intelligence, the Area Commander of Dutsin-Ma in collaboration with vigilante group, intercepted the suspect while on his way into the forest at Tsaskiya junction in Safana Local Government Area .

According to him, men of the Command became suspicious when the suspect was asked to stop and instead, took to his heels leading to a shoot out and his eventual capture and death on admission as a result of injuries sustained.

Isah while urging the public to be very vigilant and raise alarm especially when they suspect anyone with motorcycle riding towards the forest areas added that investigation is ongoing into the matter.
