Police intercept stolen vehicle, arrest four suspects in Benue
The Benue State Police Command has intercepted a stolen vehicle and apprehended four suspected criminals in its continued effort to combat crime through intelligence-led operations and swift response.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet.
According to Edet, on October 24, 2025, police operatives in Otukpo, acting on credible intelligence shared by the Imo State Police Command, intercepted a black Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC ML350 SUV that had been reported snatched at gunpoint in Owerri, Imo State.
“Four male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, and preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was being transported to another destination when it was intercepted,” she stated.
The police also recovered several items suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, including two Android phones, three button phones, one power bank, a criminal charm, and documents belonging to another vehicle.
Edet further noted that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi for further investigation, as efforts intensify to track down other members of the car-snatching syndicate.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the officers involved in the operation for their diligence and vigilance.
He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid the Command’s ongoing fight against crime across the state.
