The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into the sudden death of a Canadian national identified simply as Sullivan, who was discovered lifeless in his hotel room on Victoria Island.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of October 7, barely five days after the deceased checked into the hotel on October 2.

According to information obtained from one of the hotel attendants, who preferred to remain anonymous, staff members became alarmed when Sullivan failed to respond to repeated calls. Upon entering his room, they found him lying unresponsive on the floor.

The hotel’s Chief Security Officer immediately notified the Victoria Island Police Division around 4:30 p.m. Officers from the division swiftly visited the scene, carried out a forensic inspection, and documented the area.

Police sources disclosed that no physical injuries or signs of violence were observed on the deceased, suggesting that there was no immediate evidence of foul play.

Sullivan’s body was later conveyed to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, where a medical officer confirmed his death. The remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.

While initial findings point away from homicide, the Lagos State Police Command said further investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of death.
