Security has been tightened in Daura and across Katsina State ahead of today’s burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Katsina State Police Commissioner Bello Shehu said the command, alongside other agencies coordinated by the Assistant Inspector‑General in charge of Zone 14, has put “adequate measures” in place to guarantee a hitch‑free ceremony. He conveyed the command’s condolences to Buhari’s family, the Katsina State government and Nigerians at large.

Separately, State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Aminu Datti, announced the deployment of 2,807 NSCDC operatives. Briefing senior officers in Katsina on Monday, Datti said Commandant‑General Abubakar Audi ordered the large‑scale operation and expressed deep grief over the former president’s passing.

Personnel, both covert and uniformed, have been positioned in Daura; Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina; the palaces of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura; and other sensitive sites across all 34 local government areas.

“All officers must act professionally and maintain close synergy with other services to ensure total security before, during and after the burial,” Datti directed.
