Police re-arrest Kyari Kur, escaped convict in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has re-arrested Kyari Kur, a convict who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri.

Kur, also known as Henry, fled the facility in September after a major flood caused part of the perimeter fence to collapse.

According to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Daso, Kur was apprehended on Thursday following credible intelligence received by police at the Gubio Divisional Headquarters regarding his movements.

In a statement released on Friday, Daso confirmed that the police acted swiftly to capture the convict in Gubio town.

“The Police Command in Borno State, led by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Lawal-Yusufu, has confirmed that the convict has been profiled and will be returned to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action,” Daso stated.

“The police remain committed to ensuring public safety and justice. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and encourage them to continue providing timely information.”
