Several young women who were recently rescued from a brothel have come forward with disturbing allegations, claiming that they were forced to engage in intimate encounters with a minimum of 10 men each day under the directives of their managers.
The group consisted of approximately 29 girls, among them two minors, all of whom stated that their enforced participation aimed to generate profits for the brothel’s owner.
These individuals were rescued in Oba, within the Idemili North Local Government Area, by officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs in collaboration with the Anambra State Police Command.
“We are given 500 every morning for feeding and after that, we are compelled to sleep with men. Sometimes we are beaten when we fail to sleep with up to 10 men in a day.
Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, confirmed that arrests have been made and pledged to ensure justice is served.
She said, “Before embarking on this raid, an investigation was carried out by the ministry and it was discovered that the management of the hotel by the name ‘Ten Top’, Oba trafficked girls from all parts of the country for prostitution purposes.
The rescued girls were said to be between the ages of 16 and 24 years.
Obinabo said the owner of the brothel and some other ladies who lured the girls to the brothel were arrested and will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate Court in Awka after investigations.
