Police rescue kidnap security guard in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police have successfully rescued Hassan Abdullahi, a 52-year-old security guard who was abducted on December 29 in Gusau. The police spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, reported that Abdullahi was kidnapped around 1:30 am on Friday when armed gunmen raided a house in Sabon Garin Damba where he was stationed.

Abubakar stated in a release that the armed individuals targeted the residence of Alhaji Kabiru Umar, a staff member of Zamfara College of Art and Science in Gusau, and abducted the security guard.

Upon receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer of Damba Division organized a team of detectives for a search and rescue operation. The police intercepted the abductors at the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba, prompting the criminals to open fire on the victim’s right hand before fleeing the scene with possible gunshot wounds.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Shehu, expressed gratitude to residents for promptly alerting the police about the incident. He commended the police operatives for their swift intervention, leading to the immediate rescue of the abducted victim. The commissioner pledged the commitment of the command to continue the fight against bandits and criminal elements in the state until normalcy is restored.
