Two victims from Friday’s attack on worshippers at the Akpamoba-Igbola prayer mountain in the Agbaja area of Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, have been rescued, the state Police Command has confirmed.

ASP William Aya, the command’s spokesperson, identified the rescued individuals as Pastors Adura Kayode and Kingsley Ebong of the City of Grace Prophetic Liberation Church. Aya also shared that both pastors have been safely reunited with their families. Security forces are continuing their search in the surrounding forest to locate and free more of the abducted worshippers.

Lokoja Local Government Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, urged security forces to maintain their efforts, clear the forest of criminal elements, and restore order.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Yusuf Bala, the chairman reassured the public, calling for calm as authorities pursue the criminals responsible for the attack.

The statement further revealed that the attack, which occurred during a night vigil last Friday, was carried out by armed individuals suspected to be kidnappers. The attackers abducted an unspecified number of worshippers, taking them into the nearby forest.

The rescue of the two pastors now brings the total number of freed victims to three, including Mary Adams Gur, a woman who was released on the same night of the incident when local vigilante forces launched a rescue operation in the forest.
