Popular Abia musician, Chika Ofor slumps, dies on stage
Confusion and grief gripped the community of Umuahia in Abia State as news of the sudden death of a musician named Chika Ofor spread on the eve of a burial ceremony in Amuzukwu, Umuahia North LGA.
The tragic incident unfolded on Friday night, as Chika Ofor took to the stage during a wake-keep event honoring a 94-year-old individual. Shortly after beginning his performance, Ofor collapsed, causing great alarm. Eyewitnesses reported that, after falling, he began vomiting.
Swift efforts were made to help Ofor off the stage, and he was subsequently placed inside his vehicle, marked with the registration number APR 520 KX. The assumption at the time was that he was unwell and needed rest.
However, the morning brought a grim discovery, as the lifeless body of Chika Ofor was found inside his car. The cause of his sudden demise remains unclear, and there is no established knowledge of any significant health issues he may have been facing before his tragic passing.
Rumors and allegations circulated on social media, suggesting that Ofor may have been poisoned through food consumption prior to taking the stage.
Amidst the grieving community, Ofor’s body was eventually removed from the scene on Saturday morning by his fellow community members from Bende, accompanied by other sympathizers. His remains were transported to a mortuary, and the question of whether the matter was reported to the police or if the body underwent further medical examination remains uncertain.
