The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has vowed to pull down two nightclubs in the suburban town of Karu in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) over violations of COVID-19 safety protocols.
Cool Leo and Paris nightclubs in Karu were over the weekend sealed off for violating COVID-19 guidelines and for arbitrary change of land use from residential to commercial and hospitality.
The Head of Public Enlightenment of the FCTA Task Force on Enforcement of COVOD-19 Guidelines, Ikharo Attah, made this known at the Eagle Square during the trial of 29 people arrested across the FCT for breaking COVID-19 guidelines.
Com Attah said authorities would stop at nothing to ensure demolition of the two popular night clubs unless they reverted to approved residential land use of the area.
He explained that, “Two clubs in Karu Site have been asked to close. They operate in residential areas against COVID-19 protocols and disrupt the peace of residents at night. They are Paris Club and Cool Lea and they have been sealed off indefinitely.
“Should they refuse to revert, then we invoke other aspects of the FCT Master Plan and demolish. We will not allow them to continue disturbing the neighbourhood.”
