A former Nigerian footballer, Godwin Okpara, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping his daughter.
There was a report of molestation, rape, assault and torture against Okpara and his wife Linda at the French police.
It was gathered that Godwin Okpara had been having canal knowledge of his adopted daughter while his wife Linda subjected the same girl to undue torture and molestation.
Linda had an unnatural hatred for the 13 years old girl for reasons unknown to anyone.
When the report was launched at the French police station and the minor was interrogated, it was discovered that the level of torture the little girl was subjected to was inhuman and barbaric.
Godwin Okpara was arrested on August 2005 by the French police on charges bothering on abusing, raping and assaulting his 13 years old adopted daughter on several occasions.
He was arraigned before a court and the judge found him guilty of all the charges and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment on June 2007 after a prolonged litigation.
Linda Okpara was his wife and she was known for supporting her husband in molesting the 13 years old girl.
Linda was also arrested and was arraigned before a court after proper investigation.
The court sentenced Linda to 15 years imprisonment for torturing, molesting and supporting her husband in having canal knowledge of the minor.
Godwin Okpara is a former Nigerian footballer who was a defender. He put up an outstanding performance at the 1989 U- 17 World Championship and was wanted by top European clubs and he moved to Belgian club Beerschot. After some years of having a successful spell playing for Eendracht Aalst and including carting away with the Belgian Ebony Shoe, Godwin moved to France and played for RC Strasbourg and Paris Saint- Germain.
While at RC Strasbourg in 1997, he played in the cup final and won the Coupe de la Ligue. Okpara had a terrible second season with PSG as he form dropped and he fell out of favour with the teams management thus making him return to Standard Lige in Belgium Okpara retired after the 2003- 04 league season.
