Popular Nigerian singer, D’Banj quits secular music as he accepts Christ

Another popular Nigerian singer, D’Banj, has quite secular music.

According to some online reports, the “Fall In Love” crooner made the decision after accepting Jesus Christ as “his personal Lord and saviour” recently at a Lagos church called Streams Of Joy International.

This is coming after popular songbird, Chidimma, announced her ‘resignation’ from secular music to gospel music which she described as her “home and first love”.

However, it is not clear whether the “Koko master” as he is fondly called would be venturing into gospel music or not after quitting the secular musicsphere.

D’Banj -born Daniel Dapo Oyebanjo- hit national prominence with his hit song with his former partner and producer Don Jazzy, “Tombolo” – which earned him the nickname “Koko Master” from a popular line in the song.

In 2011, following his deal with an international record label, Kanye West’s owned Good Music records, and the released of his first international single “Oliver Twist”, D’Banj became almost a global popstar with his song making the UK official chart Top 10.

However, his popularity began to decline after he parked ways with his partner, Don Jazzy. He struggled at Good Music for sometime before returning back to Nigeria after the expiration of his deal with Good Music where he could not deliver to the American music audience.
Since then, nothing music have been heard from him except for few collaborations with emerging artists and his business ventures.
He is a winner of BET and the MOBO awards for Best African Act.
