The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) community is mourning the loss of one of its own, as Bray Wyatt, whose birth name was Windham Rotunda, has passed away. The news was confirmed by the company itself.

Rotunda’s final match occurred during the Royal Rumble, a premium live event, where he faced off against the emerging WWE talent, LA Knight, in a historic “Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match” in January. Following this match, Rotunda had been absent from the ring due to reported health concerns.

In an official statement, WWE expressed their sadness: “WWE is saddened to learn that Windham Rotunda, also known as Bray Wyatt, passed away on Thursday, August 24, at the age of 36.” Acknowledging his enthralling performances and remarkable presence in the ring, the statement underlined Rotunda’s significant contributions to WWE, including his achievement of becoming WWE Champion in 2017.

WWE extends its heartfelt condolences to Rotunda’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.

Paul Levesque, commonly known as Triple H, shared his condolences as well: “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life, Windham Rotunda—also known as Bray Wyatt—unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”
