Pre-NCE Programme Applications now available at Federal College of Education, Odugbo, Benue

The Federal College of Education,Odugbo, Benue State was one of the six Colleges of Education established in the six geo-political zones of the country in 2019. However, academic activities did not take effect immediately until last year, 2022 when it admitted the first set of students for both the Pre-NCE and NCE programmes for 2022/2023 academic session. Within the short space of time since take-off, the College has received commendation from its supervising agency, the National Commission for Colleges of Education as a citadel reputed for impactful teaching and learning.

The above adjudged performance rating corroborates the vision of the College which is to be a renowned institution that produces knowledgeable, skilful, dynamic, innovative and value-driven teachers for global competitiveness.

In order to deliver on its set vision, the Federal College of Education, Odugbo is poised to prepare and produce teachers who are equipped with professional knowledge, practice, skills and attitude for effective service delivery in the education system, societal development and self-reliance.

In line with this and in compliance with the National Policy on Education, the College is pleased to inform the public that admission forms for its preparatory one year Pre-NCE Programme for the 2023/2024 academic session are currently available for free and therefore invites interested applicants with requisite qualifications to apply to the underlisted schools of the College:

* School of Sciences;

* School of Arts and Social Science;

* School of Languages;

* School of Vocational and Technical Education

Entry Requirements

* Interested applicants should possess SSCE/NECO with 3 credits and 2 passes including English Language in not more than two (2) sittings. Two (2) of these credits must be in relevant areas.

*Holders of Teacher’s Grade II Certificate (TC II) with 3 credits/merits in the relevant areas and 2 passes including English Language

Benefits of the Pre-NCE Programme

Bearing in mind the need to create and provide unhindered opportunities to Nigerians to access requisite capacity and qualification, the Pre-NCE of the College shall among other things avail interested applicants with the following benefits:

* A two-semester value-driven and intensive preparatory training of students for tertiary institutions entry examinations such as UTME and post-UTME.

* Foundational training of students in teacher education.

* The programme provides students with the opportunity to transit into the full NCE programmes of Colleges of Education or degree programmes in any University of choice through mandatory UTME.

* The programme provides students with the opportunity to be adequately prepared and equipped for resit in subject(s) of deficiencies in NECO and/or WAEC.

Interested applicants can apply through the College portal: http//form.fceo.edu.ng/, download from the College website: www.fceodugbo.edu.ng or pick up the forms for free at the College premises in Odugbo.

Procedure for Submission of Completed Forms

Completed application forms should be accompanied with photocopies of credentials.

Closing Date

Application forms are available from the date of this publication and will close on 15th September, 2023.
