President Tinubu increases salary of Nigerian soldiers, Navy, Air Force

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increment for members of Nigeria’s armed forces, along with the payment of three months’ salary arrears. This was disclosed by Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, in a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, the ministry’s spokesperson, on Friday.

The President has also authorized the disbursement of funds to clear outstanding pensions and entitlements owed to retired military personnel, addressing long-standing concerns within the armed forces.

According to the statement, alerts for the three-month salary increase have already begun reaching military personnel, marking a significant boost to morale among service members.

Matawalle commended Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired military personnel. He reaffirmed that the administration is prioritizing the resolution of pension arrears and entitlements for retired officers.

“Despite initial setbacks, be rest assured that the President will do everything within his power to uplift our military forces as they confront the challenges of insecurity,” the minister said.

The decision is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen the armed forces and address issues of welfare and operational efficiency amidst growing security challenges in the country.
