President Tinubu makes fresh appointments [FULL LIST]
President Bola Tinubu has announced a restructuring of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), removing Hon. Emeka Atuma as Chairman and appointing Emeka Nworgu in his place.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also replaced all three executive directors initially nominated and added two additional executive directors to the Commission.
Onanuga confirmed that Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, one of the board members, was also removed.
Hon. Mark C. Okoye will retain his position as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the now 16-member board, which includes one more member than the previous structure.
Key changes in the board include:
- Stanley Ohajuruka as Executive Director of Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo.
- Toby Okechukwu as Executive Director of Projects, replacing Obinna Obiekweihe.
- Chief Sylvester Okonkwo as Executive Director of Corporate Services, replacing Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.
The newly nominated executive directors without portfolios are Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede.
The president retained several board members, including Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo. Other retained nominees are Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
All the nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
President Tinubu urged the new appointees to leverage their expertise and experience to fulfill the Commission’s mandate of fostering development in the Southeast region.
