Primaries: Protest, gunshots rock Rivers APC Secretariat

Protests and gunshots rocked the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, along Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday during screening.

Supporters of the former lawmaker, Senator Magnus Abe stormed the secretariat, alleging hijack of state assembly aspirants screening and ward/state delegate selection.

The aggrieved party members while expressing their grievances disclosed that they arrived at the secretariat around 6:00 am only to meet the gate under lock and key.

Trouble, however, started when some youths attempted to break through the gates, which saw the police officers stationed in the party secretariat shoot into the air.

The shooting caused pandemonium in the area as everyone scampered for safety.
