The Nigeria Police Force has provided an update on the death of Miss Priscilla Ocheme, a young woman who went missing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after visiting her boyfriend.
IDOMA VOICE recalls that Priscilla’s body was found near Goshen Estate in the Pyakasa area on September 22, 2024, following her visit to her boyfriend, Ekhousuehi Elvis.
The police report states that the case was initially brought to the attention of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Abuja, leading to the invitation of Elvis for questioning. However, instead of complying, the prime suspect, Elvis, went to another police station in Lagos State to file a counter-petition.
In response to these developments, Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed on Thursday that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has ordered the IGP-Special Investigation Unit to take over the case to ensure it is handled with the required sensitivity and focus.
Adejobi further stated that the primary suspect, Ekhousuehi Elvis, along with other individuals arrested in connection with the case, are currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation.
He also clarified that, contrary to circulating rumors, neither Elvis nor any other suspect is being mistreated while in custody. The IGP emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough and just investigation.
The Special Investigation Unit, Adejobi added, is fully equipped to handle such cases and will ensure a detailed and transparent inquiry to uncover the truth.
