In its efforts to support the academic pursuit of children in Apa LGA of Benue State, Project Otalaka, a charity organization has donated uniforms to primary school pupils in the area.
Emmanuel Ekah, General Secretary of the organisation, said the decision to embark on the project was to encourage children that knowledge is light.
IDOMA VOICE observed that over 200 pupils benefitted from the gesture.
Similarly, the organization, founded by agroprenuer, Adama J Adama, is organizing an inter School Quiz Competition.
Ekah, in a statement said the overall aim is to promote infrastructural and social developments in Benue State and beyond.
He said, “We have a track record of demonstrated commitment to this goal by engaging in many community-oriented projects in Apa L.G.A. Notably, we have embarked on provision of electricity to needing community, construction of drainages in flood-prone villages, free medical outreaches in communities in dire need, an annual soccer competition for youths (Apa Premier League), distribution of books and school uniforms to indigent pupils, renovation of classrooms in public schools, distribution of clothing and food materials to vulnerable widows, among others.
“It is our firm belief that education is the bedrock of every meaningful human development and hence, our commitment to promoting academic excellence in Benue State. We have shown this in the ongoing fee-free extra-mural classes being organized for the 2020/2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates in Apa L.G.A.
“To entrench the culture of academic excellence among Apa students, we are organizing “Apa Inter-School Quiz Competition”, commencing March 2021. The quiz is designed for senior secondary school students and will be based on the senior secondary school syllabus of the National Examination Council (NECO) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
“With much pleasure therefore, we invite your school to participate in the competition. Consequently, you are to present a formidable team of three (3) senior secondary school students to represent your school, while you nominate a coordinator from the members of your staff to lead your students in the competition.”
