Protest rocks Owerri as Uzodinma moves to shut down Rochas Okorocha College

Some students of Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, on Monday, protested the attempt by the Imo State government to close their school and seal a property of their proprietor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

IDOMA VOICE reports that the brewing political rift between current Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma and former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, on Sunday, took a dangerous dimension as the former challenged the current Imo State Government for sealing some of his choice properties which were alleged to have been built with public fund and converted into private use by Okoracha while he was governor.

In order to challenge the sealing of the property, Senator Okorocha personally went with his staff to unseal and retake the estate which led to physical fracas between Okoroacha’s thugs and security operatives deployed at the estate by Governor Hope Uzodimma. The Nigerian police got involved and arrested Senator Okorocha alongside others that Were even injured.

He was later granted bail on Monday.

However, the sudents of Rochas College, Orji Owerri, storm major roads in the state capital today (22 February), with placards with inscriptions Like “DO NOT CLOSE OUR SCHOOL”, “WE ARE IMO CHILDREN”, “DO NOT KILL PAPA ROCHAS” etc.
