Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and his partner, Alessia Elefante, faced a horrifying ordeal last night when a gang of thieves violently invaded their residence in Paris.
According to Le Parisien, the criminals forcibly broke into Donnarumma’s luxurious home located in the VIII district of the French capital. The couple endured a traumatic experience as they were subjected to violence during the terrifying attack. The assailants made away with valuable possessions totaling around £432,000 (500,000 euros).
Thankfully, both Donnarumma and Elefante managed to escape the dire situation without suffering severe injuries. Seeking safety, they sought refuge at a nearby hotel and promptly alerted the authorities to the heinous crime. Following the incident, the couple, along with the building’s doorman, who was also targeted during the robbery, were taken to a hospital for thorough examination.
In response to this distressing event, the Paris criminal police have assigned a specialized unit to investigate the case. Unfortunately, Donnarumma’s name now joins the list of PSG players who have been victims of similar assaults in recent times. Notable players such as Ángel Di María, Sergio Rico, Mauro Icardi, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Dani Alves, and Choupo-Moting have also faced traumatic episodes of robbery.
This alarming trend of attacks goes beyond the boundaries of Paris and extends to other footballers as well. Even as recently as the summer of 2022, Marco Verratti suffered a robbery of over 3 million euros while on vacation in Ibiza.
As the investigation unfolds, the safety and security of athletes, celebrities, and individuals become an urgent concern. In light of this horrific incident, Donnarumma’s scheduled participation in PSG’s pre-season tour to Japan is now uncertain, as he and his partner recover from the traumatic event. The incident serves as a stark reminder that the safety and well-being of public figures remain an ongoing issue that requires utmost attention and vigilance.
