Miami Beach, FL – The Miami Beach Police Department swiftly responded to reports of an alleged robbery aboard a yacht on Sunday (July 23) evening. According to a police report, Quavo, the renowned rapper and former member of Migos, was among the group of individuals on board during the incident, which occurred near The Wharf Miami.
Emerging details reveal that the situation escalated when two men, identified as Cornell Whitfield, 39, from Texas, and Anteneh Workeneh, 32, from Georgia, became confrontational with the yacht’s captain as the vessel was returning. The captain claimed that he was held at gunpoint after the client who chartered the boat demanded a refund.
Disturbing videos surfaced showing Quavo with his hands restrained by zip ties while on the boat. However, the Miami Beach police acted promptly and released the rapper without any further incident.
The police report mentioned that two firearms were found at the scene, but there were no indications that the weapons were used to threaten anyone during the alleged robbery. Notably, there were no cameras on the boat that captured the specific location of the incident.
Eyewitnesses described the situation as shocking and chaotic. Terence Quek, a witness, said, “All of a sudden, there was a police boat that came to the front. People were raising their hands, so we were wondering what’s going on. It was kind of like an ambush from both sides. It was a crazy scene, not going to lie.”
Quavo has been through trying times in the past year. After facing rumors of discord with fellow Migos member Offset, tragedy struck when his close collaborator and nephew, Takeoff, fell victim to gun violence in November 2022. However, the rapper reunited with Offset onstage at the 2023 BET Awards in June to pay tribute to their late comrade.
As investigations into the alleged robbery continue, authorities are working to ascertain all the details surrounding the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
