Re-Agatu attacks: Godday Samuel fails to raise motion

The attention of the Hon member, representing the good people of Apa and Agatu constituency, Hon Samuel Godday has been drawn to a news story written by one Austin Austine K Adanwo asserting that the Hon member fails to raise a motion on the floor of the house about the recent crisis at okokolo in Agatu LG.

As usual, we would have ignored the post as the writer is ignorant of the true picture of events in the community, but it has become necessary to clear the air and furnish the public with the facts of the matter as such cyber lies are one too many.

For the records, the Honourable member on that fateful day was on his way from home to Abuja after a reception was held in his honour at Ogbaulu when the sad news broke out, he immediately condemned the incident in its entirety and sympathise with the families of the victims on our local media houses and platforms.

He further put a Call to his Excellency, the Governor of the State, Gov Samuel Ortom and officially reported the matter to him as the chief security of the state. The Governor directed his deputy to pay an on the spot visit to the community where teams of security operatives were deployed immediately to avert further crisis.

It is worthy of clarification further that the okokolo crisis is communal and therefore sensitive for anyone in his right senses to draw cheap politics points out of it especially when Agatu people have been engulfed with many security challenges for the past 4 years. It’s really sad and unfortunate for the writer to draw the name of the Hon member to such sad event when the people are still mourning their loved ones, the Honourable member even before joining politics has been a fulcrum of peace and development initiatives of Agatu people which every sons and daughters of Agatu can attest to. Since assuming office, he has been tirelessly making efforts in collaboration with various stakeholders to install peace to his people. That he is committed to ensuring that peace returns.

To this end,the Hon member alongside with the state Government has set up a high powered fact finding committee to find a lasting and permanent solution to the crisis and soon the report will be ready for necessary actions.

So it’s therefore sad and unfortunate for the sponsors of the writer who was in the same position for 8 years and did not even sponsor a single bill or attract any meaningful constituency benefits will now begging to play to the gallery and sponsoring e- thugs to dance on the tombs of the unfortunate victims which he failed in his desert years in the chamber.

We therefore share in the pains of the innocent victims and with the degree of the efforts put in place, peace and development will soon be enjoyed by the loving and caring people of Agatu nation.

Finally, the Honourable member urged the defeated former member to take notice of the fact that elections are now over and it is time to concentrate on the Mandate freely given to him by God and his constituents. And no amount of cheap blackmail and lies would deter him.

Once again, we sympathise with the victims and their families for their loses. May God accepts their souls and God bless us all. Amen.

Thanks.

Comr Ochohepo Peter

SA Media to the Hon Member.
