Reactions as Nigerian club sign player for ‘urgent 2k’

A football club situated in the northern region of Nigeria, known as Hottenham Football Club, has completed the signing of Abdulhamid Sabo for a meager sum of two thousand Naira.

This club actively participates in the Babura Local Government Football Association League, which is based in Jigawa State.

The official confirmation of this transfer was made by Aliyu Eloquent via his Facebook page, stating, “ABDULHAMID SABO (ABUT) has officially joined AREWA UNITED from HOTTENHAM for a fee of (N2000). The deal is complete.”

The news of this transfer has sparked reactions from Nigerians, with many considering it a remarkable bargain. While some view it as a positive development, others have questioned the incredibly low transfer fee.

One Facebook user, Adejoh Ernest, congratulated the parties involved, saying, “What a great deal. Congratulations.”

On the other hand, another user named Jafar Zumar expressed his dissatisfaction, commenting, “What kind of useless deal is this?”

Kabiru Saleh, taken aback by the paltry transfer fee, exclaimed, “Only 2k?”

Upon further inspection of Aliyu Eloquent’s Facebook posts, it becomes evident that several other player transfers have occurred, with transfer fees ranging from as low as N2,000 to a maximum of N5,000. This situation underscores the challenging state of grassroots football in Nigeria, prompting a need for swift action from football administrators.
