Recruitment: Immigration warns applicants on fraudulent invitation letters

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a strong cautionary message to the general public, particularly to aspiring applicants. The alert pertains to the proliferation of counterfeit invitation letters circulating in connection to recruitment opportunities within the service.

Dr. Adedotun Aridegbe, the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) and spokesperson for the NIS, conveyed the warning through an official statement on Wednesday. He emphasized that legitimate invitation letters for recruitment into the NIS are exclusively accessible through the official recruitment portal established by the service.

Aridegbe underscored the seriousness of the matter, unequivocally stating that any other communication purporting to be an invitation from recruitment sources apart from the official portal is unequivocally fraudulent. This announcement serves as a crucial reminder to all prospective applicants to exercise extreme vigilance and verify the authenticity of any correspondence they receive regarding NIS recruitment.

“The attention of the acting Comptroller General of NIS, Caroline Adepoju, has been drawn to the activities of some fraudsters, who are deceiving members of the public with fake invitation letters for recruitment into the NIS.

“The service hereby wishes to state that all invitations for recruitment into the NIS can only be downloaded from its official recruitment portal.

“All other forms of invites from any source and through any medium sent directly to applicants are fake,” part of the statement read.
