Stella Damasus, a respected veteran in Nollywood, has recently opened up about what she considers the “biggest mistake” of her life – marrying her best friend. In a candid discussion with Teju Babyface, a popular media personality, she revealed that the pressure from religion played a significant role in this regrettable decision.
Stella shared that she was once a choir member in a church, and her best friend, who also happened to be the choir director, was the one she ended up marrying. However, she firmly believes they were not meant to be life partners. As friends, they had a fantastic bond, but as a couple, they couldn’t make it work.
The actress reflected on a previous marriage that ended in just eight months before her marriage to her best friend. Although she didn’t speak publicly about it at the time, she acknowledged that it was another mistake in her life. She mentioned that the man she married back then was an amazing person, but the union didn’t last due to underlying issues caused by religious pressure.
Stella and her ex-husband eventually realized that they were better off as friends rather than spouses, leading them to part ways amicably. They decided to respect each other’s feelings and maintain a cordial relationship, ensuring they can still exchange pleasantries and show concern for each other’s well-being.
Overall, Stella Damasus expressed regret for the decision influenced by religious expectations, and she hopes that sharing her experience will help others avoid similar pitfalls and prioritize genuine compatibility in their relationships.
