Ex-Presidential aide to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, says Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, can’t be Jonathan’s running mate in the 2023 general.
Omokri who was reacting to the reports in some media that the former president is eyeing the presidential seat ahead of 2023, debunked the allegations saying Jonathan has no presidential ambition and so El-Rufai can’t be his running mate.
Recall that there were reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (ApC) are lobbying for Jonathan to be the party flag bearer in the 2023 election.
However, speaking during an online interview programme, The Roundtable, on Wednesday, Jonathan’s former aide dismissed the allegations.
He stated that those behind it are trying to put pressure to promote Nasir El-Rufai as a presidential candidate.
While stating that the report is a lie, Omokri noted that El-Rufai will be the last person Jonathan would pick even if he is thinking of contesting
He also explained that his former principal also has no intention to dump the People Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
