Retired ASP commits suicide in Idoma community (PHOTOS)

A retired Police officer, Mr. Ella (other names hidden), has allegedly committed suicide, New Nigerian Reporters reports.

The late Ella who, until his death, lived directly opposite St. John’s Catholic Church in Ichama Centre in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State was said to had left no suicide note for his family to ascertain why he decided to take his own life.

He committed suicide by hanging himself.
 IDOMA VOICE gathered was gathered the good people of Ichama were thrown into mourning in the early hours of Tuesday, February 7, 2017, as the news of the death of the ex Police officer broke out with his body still dangling on the rope in his room where he committed the suicide.
Report said as the news of the incident filtered all over the world via phone calls and social media posts, Ichama Center became a hub of strangers as people from all nooks and crannies of the State trooped in to the district to see with their eyes the abominable act that took place at the ancient city.

An eye witness simply known as Water told our correspondent that the retired Police Officer (ELLA) hanged himself in his bed room opposite St. Johns Catholic Parish, Ichama Center. Mr. Water said the late SUPOL Ella tied a tick rope round his neck from the ceiling in his bed room, and hung himself to death.
He also said that in a previous event before his demise, the deceased had attempted drinking a poisonous substance but was stopped by his family members who got knowledge of his plans at the time.
Mr. Water further explained that the late Ella who got converted to Christianity via Deeper Life Bible Church after the first attempted suicide said in his testimony during one of the church services that he could not tell what came over him that led him to contemplating suicide.
The case has been reported to the District head of Ichama -Ochi’Ichama and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Okpokwu Local Government Police Command.
