‘Reverend, why are you lying?’ – Terry G blasts Gov Alia on Benue crisis
Nigerian singer and rapper Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has criticised Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for downplaying claims of religious persecution in the state.
IDOMA VOICE reports that Alia made the comments during a consultative forum on the protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Forcibly Displaced Persons (FDPs) organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Abuja.
The governor rejected reports circulating in the U.S. that Nigeria is experiencing religious genocide, insisting no such atrocity exists in Benue or elsewhere in the country.
“In my state of Benue, we don’t have any religious, ethnic, racial, national, or state genocide. We don’t have that,” Alia said, while acknowledging that insecurity exists but arguing it does not amount to genocide.
Terry G, a native of Benue, responded angrily on Instagram, questioning the governor’s denial.
“Reverend, why are you lying? Why can’t you admit the truth and take corrective action? The Christian community in Benue is under attack ignoring it doesn’t change the reality. What kind of governor just caps rubbish like that?”
The singer insisted that the situation in Benue cannot be silenced and highlighted the ongoing threats facing Christians in the state.
