Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his insights into why he believes there might be tension between Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Having played alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford for six years and witnessed Henry’s tenure at Arsenal, Ferdinand reflected on their interactions on a podcast.
Regarding Brazilian football legend Ronaldo de Lima’s sentiments toward Cristiano Ronaldo, Ferdinand speculated: “There’s some tension there, you know. It seems to revolve around the name. I think it’s because of the name similarity, as if he’s saying, ‘You’ve taken my name,’ so there’s a personal issue there.”
Turning to Henry, Ferdinand observed: “It’s similar with Thierry [Henry]. Thierry seems to hold some reservations. The way I perceive Thierry discussing Cristiano, it’s more about what he doesn’t say. He doesn’t talk about him with much enthusiasm or admiration.”
Ferdinand recounted a particular incident at Highbury where Henry appeared to lightly reprimand Cristiano, who then pushed him away, suggesting a potential underlying tension between the two football icons
