Rivers: Gov Fubara begs for forgiveness after clash with Wike

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued an apology to the people of the state regarding the recent political crisis that has unfolded. In his statement on Saturday, Fubara characterized the crisis as “regrettable anxieties” and stressed the importance of making sacrifices for the sake of peace.

The governor addressed the bombing of the state House of Assembly complex and the resulting division among lawmakers. He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in resolving the rift with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

In his statement, Governor Fubara stated, “My dear good people of Rivers State, I consider it necessary to issue this press statement on the developments of the past few days in our dear state.”

He described the incident where the state House of Assembly’s chamber was gutted by fire and expressed his visit to assess the damage and take remedial measures. He also mentioned the political crisis that followed with two factions within the House of Assembly.

Fubara thanked President Bola Tinubu for his intervention and the elders who are involved in addressing the matter. He emphasized his commitment to restoring peace and stability in the state and stated that no sacrifice is too much to achieve this goal.

The governor highlighted the collective responsibility of leaders to advance the progress, security, and well-being of the people and called for efforts to ensure lasting peace and progress in Rivers State.

Fubara concluded by assuring the people of Rivers State that peace will prevail, and they will continue to work together to advance the state’s peace, security, and progress.
