The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the true political leadership would be evident when the time for politics arrives.
During his visit to Victor Giadom, the South-South Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at his Bera country home in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike addressed the current situation.
He dismissed detractors as “hungry noisemakers on the road” and confidently stated that the forthcoming political season would reveal who holds sway.
Wike declared, “Forget about these hungry noisemakers on the road. When the time comes, we will know who is in charge and who is not in charge. There is a time for everything. This is not time for politics. When the time comes, we will know who is who.”
Despite facing criticism and online abuse, Wike remained unfazed, stating that he pays no attention to those who attempt to disparage him on social media.
Regarding his alignment with Victor Giadom, Wike acknowledged the transient nature of political parties but emphasized the enduring importance of friendships. He admitted to past mistakes, attributing them to human nature, and noted that friendships would outlast political affiliations.
Wike concluded, “Party will come and go, and friendship will remain. We have made our mistakes. We are all humans but friendship remains.” The visit and Wike’s statements reflect the ongoing political dynamics and power struggles in Rivers State, setting the stage for future political developments in the region.
