The Director of News at Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), Port Harcourt, Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, has been kidnapped in a distressing incident. The news of her abduction was revealed by Pastor Ebi Ogoloma, the Station’s Director of Administration.
The unfortunate event occurred on Friday, July 21, between 7 pm and 8 pm, along Slaughter/YKC road in Port Harcourt, while she was on her way home from work. Her car broke down on the road, prompting her to call her husband for assistance. He arrived with a mechanic to fix the car. Tragically, it was during this time that the kidnappers struck and took her away.
Remarkably, the kidnappers did not harm her husband or the mechanic present; they solely targeted Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha before making their escape.
As the incident unfolds, family sources report that the kidnappers have not yet contacted them, leaving her whereabouts unknown.
In response to the alarming situation, Ike Wigodo, the Secretary of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), called for calm among journalists in the State. The Union has already contacted Commissioner of Police CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka regarding the incident, and the family has been advised to make a preliminary report at the nearest Police Station.
At present, the situation remains highly concerning, and authorities are working diligently to locate Mrs. Nwokocha and secure her safe release.
