Ukraine president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has spoken about the possibility of losing his life in the ongoing battle against Russia.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a video conference call on Thursday night, Zelensky told European Union (EU) leaders: “This might be the last time you see me alive”, journalist Barak David said two sources told him.
Zelensky feels that Russia president, Vladimir Putin’s goal is to topple the Ukrainian democracy and kill him.
Zelenskyy had criticised Western nations for not coming to Ukraine’s aid, saying his country has been left alone to fight the invading Russian forces.
“Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone,” he said. “Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) membership? Everyone is afraid.”
A series of pre-dawn explosions in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, set off a second day of fighting after Russian President Putin defied Western warnings to unleash a full-scale invasion on Thursday that quickly killed dozens of people and displaced at least 100,000.
