Saka wins Arsenal Player of the Month award

England winger Bukayo Saka has emerged victorious, clinching the Arsenal Player of the Month award for September. The 22-year-old outshone his teammates Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, and William Saliba during this period.

Saka played a crucial role as the Gunners secured an impressive 10 points out of a possible 12 in the Premier League throughout September. His influence extended to the UEFA Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven, where he played a pivotal part in the London-based team’s victory.

Saka showcased his prowess by either scoring or assisting in all five of Arsenal’s games. He tallied three goals and provided three crucial assists, displaying exceptional performance on the field.

According to statistics from arsenal.com, Saka garnered an impressive 36 percent of the votes, triumphing over strong contenders Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, and William Saliba.

The young talent crafted a total of 13 chances, registered six shots on target, and made an astounding 145 key passes. Additionally, Saka showcased his defensive capabilities by recovering possession 27 times and executing seven tackles.

This victory marks the sixth occasion on which Saka has been honored with the Arsenal Player of the Month award, the last time being in December 2022.

Saka, born in England to Nigerian parents, had the option to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria due to his heritage. However, he opted to play for England. In the current season, he has already amassed five goals and five assists in 10 games across various competitions.

Established in October 1886, Arsenal made their debut in the Football League in 1893 and ascended to the first division in 1904. Presently, they hold the impressive second position in the Premier League standings, boasting 20 points after eight matches.
