Salome Adaidu: Family divided over Timilehin Ajayi’s murder charge as investigation continues

The father of Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer accused of murdering corps member Salome Adaidu, has called for his son’s release. Ajayi, known for his 2020 album God of the Earth, was arrested in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, near the Federal Capital Territory, after being charged with the brutal killing of Adaidu.

He was reportedly found with Adaidu’s severed head in a polythene bag.

A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered Ajayi’s remand as investigations continue into the case.

In an interview with Channels Television, Ajayi’s father appealed for government intervention, asking for mercy and for his son’s release. “I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg so that he is released,” he said.

On the other hand, Ajayi’s mother expressed a contrasting view, saying she would leave the matter to the authorities. “If it was one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she asked. “So the government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands.”

The crime took a violent turn after Ajayi confessed to murdering Adaidu following a year-long relationship. During questioning, he claimed a heated argument escalated into violence when Adaidu allegedly attempted to stab him. Ajayi, who also promotes himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, revealed that the rest of Adaidu’s body was at his residence.

The remains of Salome Adaidu were later buried, with a viral video showing mourners in anguish. Her family continues to grieve, and calls for justice intensify.
